Work Experience Week 2023
We were pleased to welcome four students for work experience week in July, joining us from Sir John Hunt Sixth Form, Liskeard Community College and Callywith College.
Morwenna, George, Ashleigh and Blake were given the opportunity to work as a creative team on a film project throughout the week and they absolutely smashed it!
After meeting each other and being introduced to the project, the group were given an introduction to using our professional film gear and how to plan and shoot an interview with Fotonow’s media producer Ryan Cheetham.
The group then met friend of Fotonow Ari Drummond, a marine biologist and PhD researcher at The University of Plymouth, to plan out a promotional film for her collaborative research project at the University, The Crab Lab.
With the video planned the group spent a day shooting an on-location interview with Ari and gathering additional footage, supported by our filmmaker Matilda Butler.
The students then spent the end of the week in the digi-suite putting the finished film together in Adobe Premiere, with some skill sharing from our film editor and motion graphics expert Faye West.
It was a week of challenge, learning and lots of fun and we think the group did fantastic job! You can check out their finished film below.
We’d like to say a big thank you to Ari, to Morwenna, George, Ashleigh, Blake and their respective schools and to the University of Plymouth for facilitating student placements and supporting the project!
