Dance For Camera with EXIM

We teamed up with Exim Dance Company to provide a Fit & Fed for the ages! Combining filmmaking and dancing our young crew of talented creatives set about making a beach themed music video that Plymouth could be proud of.

The crew of 7 young professionals started learning choreography at Oxford House with Exim’s Community Dance Practitioner, Sophie Hocking. Rising to the challenge they themed their dance moves around the movement of the waves and sea. They then took on the new challenge of photography, learning composition techniques with Fotonow’s Community Photographer, Emma Booth.

The final boss challenge was to learn the filmmaking process and bring all the dance moves and composition techniques together to create a music video. Fotonow’s Media Producer, Ryan Cheetham, took them on a journey around Royal William Yard, filming on location, before Filmmaker, Matilda Butler, showed them the dark art of editing.

We thank the young people for being great sports by getting stuck in and being very well behaved. We hope you enjoy the final video and keep a look out for this talented bunch in the future! Make sure you keep watching till the end for some funny outtakes!

Fit & Fed is a Plymouth City Council programme funded by the Department for Education, match funded for Dance for Camera by Fotonow.
